If you have to, you can use egg yolks in place of brain material. Most stores can order in brains, maybe if you tell them you'll take a couple dozen lbs, they would order them in for you.

Adventurebound, try Soy Lecithin from a health food store instead of pork brains. Cold soak it over night so it won't get sticky.

I tanned dozens, maybe closer to 100 hides with just egg yolks and water, when I started braintanning. You really don't have to separate out the whites unless you want to. That being said, they do not...
